What new content would you add to the anime adaption of 1000 Year Blood War Arc?

As expected, BA has some great ideas for when/if the Bleach anime returns and what to do with filler. We all know that the Bleach anime has had issues with converting chapters to episodes in a well paced way. I agree with most that has said that Studio Pierrot (or whichever does the anime) has to use the material more efficiently by adding in more viable content. By simply extending battle scenes or adding new interaction even in non-battle chapters, could greatly enhance the experience for the viewer, more so then adding in complete story arcs that add nothing or completely detract from the main story.

I personally would like to see two parts of Bleach be extended for the anime: the training and battle chapters. If they would extend those and leave the chapters that are mostly conversations alone, since they are what mainly moves the plot along, I see no reason why they couldn't double the amount of episodes they get from the chapters. I would much rather have this, then completely-made-up-26-episodes-filler arc. I don't mind if adaptations add new stuff in, as long as it adds to/improves the story that we know.

Well as I said before:

If the Anime returns, hopefully it does, I'd love to see more inetaraction amongst the SR. Maybe throw hints at people like Gremmy. Have Bach maybe hint at him being locked away, ya know? With the SR there just doesn't seem to be a sense of community. I know that they're meant to be this huge threat that sweep through the Shinigami, but I just want to see their characters fleshed out and what their thoughts on their situation are. I'd like to see the conversation Bambietta had with the other Female SR and their thoughts.

Speaking of the Female SR I always saw them as facing off against the Gate Guardians. That's how Giselle got hold of Jidanbou, and as she used him to ruin the Soul Society (I see her sitting on his shoulder) Pepe gets between her and her Zombie making. It'd be nice to see a back-and-forth with The Zombie and The Love. Giselle zombiefying Toushiro and the others would be interesting as well. The other Female SR may not like just how creepy she is in doing so as she already for Bambi. Maybe we could see Bambietta waking up as a Zombie as well and Gigi's reaction.

I'd love to see the RG more. Maybe they could watch the invasions and perhaps we could see their reaction to Yamamoto's death? I can't imagine them not being bothered by it as they seemed when they first appeared. Also just what are they doing after the Elites ran through them? Surely they're not dead, they're up to something.

More Hueco Mundo. Seeing the Wandenreich invade Las Noches would be a personal highlight of mine. Watching Halibel meet up with SR would be amazing. Who did she face before Bach cut her down? Maybe as Pesche mentioned it we'd see a flashback?

Thing I would want most is a Shunsui vs Robert rematch and a flashback for Cang Du. His "things that live together should die together" motto.....I mean that screams Tite Kubo flashback how did it not happen lol?

And yeah I would just make Shunsui and Robert have a rematch in the second invasion. Screw it. Fairy Tail did it with Laxus and Tempesta. Why not?

Also more foreshadowing for Gremmy. The Schutzstafel don't really need foreshadowing that much, the only reason I would mention them earlier is to show motivation for the Stern Ritter in the second invasion. Some characters, particularly Bazz-B, are clearly looking to impress Ywhach. They probably wanted to get promoted. Some like Robert probably understood that if they weren't useful enough they'd be left behind. But yeah I would just mention the idea of getting promoted to the Schutzstafel and have like two Stern Ritter, say Askin and Bazz-B, speculate that a second Auswahlen is going to happen.

Oh yeah I just want to see who the hell was fighting who in the first invasion. Maybe some short clips of actual action, but nothing that would give away any abilities. Maybe a more dramatic exit too, since we only see Ywhach exit, we don't actually see any of the other Stern Ritter exit.

No off-paneling fights. So, all fights well developed and with some strategy in it.

Develop more backstory for the Sternritters. I believe Kubo really wanted to do it. We get bits from The Fear. But, he probably couldn't add all of them and just focused on Bazz and Hash.

More of Gremmy's background and his origin.

Flashbacks of Yama and Yuha fighting and more stuff of that Era and the old Gotei members. See some members ascend to the Royal Guard.

EDIT: I'd like to see more interaction between the Sternritters. Their personalities and such.

-Extend the first invasion a bit, show more of the off screen battles and introduce some SR earlier here too.
- Have Gremmy appear earlier and hype him up (show other SRs scared of him or something like that) to make his battle with Kenpachi more significant, instead of just a super powerful kid that showed up out of nowhere. The same can be said for the SS, a simple mention of Yhwach's elite guard and how they are the strongest SRs would be enough.
- Extend some really short battles from the Manga (Cang Du vs Hitsu / BG9 vs Soifon / Bambi vs Koma) and overall extend battles with more choreography added in, sword attacks, arrows, things like that (they almost always did this so it's probably a given).
- Add in chapter 520.5 and Kira's fight with Shaz from 13 blades.
- Add more interaction between SRs in thos chapters between the two invasions as well as Shinigami interactions (Training and stuff)

That's pretty much it off the top of my head.

Longer first invasion.

Show all the sternritter in the first invasion excluding the elites and gremmy.

Ikkaku vs sternritter 'y' - have ikkaku struggle and eventually loose
Yumichika vs sternritter 'q' - it would be a funny battle bit Yumichika looses
Kenpachi vs sternritter 'r' - one shotted by kenpachi
Ukitake vs sternritter 'w' - Ukitake is hesitant to fight
Shinji vs askin - askin runs away but Shinji chasses him around

Shunshui vs Robert - a full battle where Robert uses his full abilities and rrveal the 'n'. Have Robert use vollstanding to hurt shunsui. I want the anime to make Shunshui stronger in this fight and actually hurt Robert a lot .

Female knights to make an appearance and be mad at babieta for not staying with them and instead ditching them.
Them to fight rukia, kensie and more.

Post first invasion-
In vandenrich I want the elites to be introduced and hyped by the other quinces. I want to see some confrontation between them and buzz b.
I want a scene where gremmy is being unlocked from his confinement and the other quincys getting scared.

The OP sums up most of the stuff I'd add. In a nutshell every significant fight and training session that was off screen should be given more showtime thru filler. Part of me really hopes Kubo will turn his attention to the anime (if it ever returns) and help the writers create additional canon content for the anime. For instance, the royal guard training - specifically Ichigo and Zangetsu's internal conversation, could have several episodes dedicated to it where the manga only had a few panels.

Filler scenes of shinigami killing soldat in various ways complementary to their characters before being inevitably paired up with an opponent whose battle against them will be off-panelled. Namely, I would like to see Rojuro killing soldats within Kinshara Butoudan as Blue Danube Waltz plays in the background for a few seconds before Kira's death is announced OR during the downtime in between the start of the second invasion and the battle against Mask de Masculine. Perhaps a collage of different struggles going on around the Seiretei as transitions between Ichigo's Jail scenes and the actual, canonical battles.

-Kensei and Mashiro dual melee would be equally as divine.
-Exhibit Berenice/Jerome/Lloyd's fighting abilities before they go out like chumps.
-SHOW US WHO UKITAKE WAS FIGHTING

I think we all have the same ideas for the anime adaption. I'm glad that the anime was held of now. There just so much potential to make this arc really good. Hopefully studio pierot will do it right.

I'd pretty much keep everything in the manga the same and add in all the untold s*** that TK had no time for. So, my main targets would be:

1. TBTP of Yama vs. Ywach right after Yama is killed and Shunsui makes mention of the original G13 from 1000 years ago. This ground needed to be covered badly and we never got it.

2. Confrontation of Driscoll vs. Sasakibe would need to be added. His death made for a great start to the arc, but i would have liked to see how that confrontation went given it was a sternritter that killed him and not a soldat.

3. What happened to Halibel after she was shown. We never find out whether she was killed or simply captured and chained. We know Ywach had her and that was it.

4. The 'agreement' struck between Urahara and Grimmjow. I'd love to see how that conversation went after Grimm saved them from Kirgie.

5. Urahara's arrival at the resolution of the bankai medallions. How soon did he conclude the power behind it and how quickly did he create the counter. Mayuri couldn't even do it after the first invasion and Urahara was planning multiple things simultaneously (like his own battle and escape from a death ball prison with aid of the former 3rd espada, getting Yoruichi and co. into the RR figuring the gate would be delayed, collecting energy from the fabric tear between dimensions, etc.). It was impressive s*** to say the least.

6. A TBTP of Ryuken and his wife and how Ryuken was back when Uryu was born. This could have sealed up the story behind their relationship a bit more.

7. At the very least a flashback of Zaraki defeating the previous Kenpachi. At least a couple of episodes of the fight that got him into his position. I would place this in between the Zaraki vs. Unohana fight to place some context around Zaraki shackling his power. I would love to know if he had done it against Kiganjou.

8. A short history of the zero division. I'd place this right around where Hikifune elaborates about squad zero to Ichigo and Renji. This way we get an idea of who came in during what time. We know Hikifune is likely the newest member of the RG. The rest are relatively unknown.

9. A brief history of Ywach and Ichibei. I have a feeling this history pre-dates Yama vs. Ywach. THey spoke as if they knew each other well or as if Ichibei is Ywach's senior. Place this in between their fight in the Royal Palace.

10. The defeat of zero division. More action showing how and why zero squad lost would have been nice given they were purported to be stronger than all of the G13 combined in just 5 members. They got stomped pretty easily. The elite guard may have received a nice power up, but it shouldn't have been so easy for them to win.

There's a bunch more stuff, but i think these are my most critical topics. It really is more storyline than anything. I care less about some of the characters who were off-paneled. Rangiku stood absolutely no chance against Cang-Du, so fights like that won't matter to me. It's bigger things that tie up the story and provide closure that would need animation.
