United States 2020 Presidential Election

It seems to be true. It was just mentioned in the BBC news.

I agree with you that Trump's attitude towards climate change is a mistake but I am left with the impression that in general, Americans don't care about climate change very much. They have other priorities.

Trump has a strong following and it seems to many of them he can do no wrong. A lot depends on it if Trump will have to face a strong opposition with a candidate who can deal with him. Right now I am rather pessimistic. It looks like it that Trump will be elected again.

^ Bernie Sanders will likely be the front-runner, which means Trump will likely not be re-elected. The recent crisis with Iran also means that he will suffer in the general, on top of being impeached.

The Iran crisis may not even be truly over with, an all out war would certainly plunge his chances.

As for climate change, the conservative leadership are the ones who do not believe in such, though looking at what's happening right now in Australia... lets just say more people in this country believe in science than the corrupt representatives let on.

Thank you - I think you are right.

What a start of the year! My daughter seriously believed WWIII is starting. Some of her friends were very worried as well. Me too but I am prepared to wait and see. Fortunately so far the worst seems to be over but this was the official response. The Middle East is riddled with extremists, organizations and individuals. And terrorists can be found anywhere. This can still result in a terrible tragedy somewhere, also here in Britain and Europe in general.

I am glad that the Americans in general are taking climate change more seriously. It is heartbreaking to watch what is happening in Australia. The fires cause so much suffering and hardship, not to mention the environmental damage. So many animals were killed and people worry that some species might become extinct. Right now we have grey, rainy weather here in Britain. I am sure people in Australia would be happy to have this weather! This is indeed a climate emergency and people have to think carefully how to rebuild - not only the lost homes but also natural habitats.

Trump seems to have lost a lot of ground and I am glad about it. From what I have seen, Bernie Sanders is an old but strong individual. I don't know a lot about him but I am sure he is wiser than Trump.

And here in Britain, we will officially exit the EU at the end of January. The transition period will be over at the end of the year (at least this is what Johnson said). I am a German and have been living in this country for decades - and I am worried about where Britain is going and my personal future.

Happy new year indeed.

There is no good choice looking at the contest.

Maybe this is true here: Better the devil you know...

I am afraid we will get more Trump years.

Depends, the Covid-19 crisis will have some kind of impact for sure. It could go either way, bc Biden doesn't have young support while Trump himself is historically unpopular. However, the actual "energy" and enthusiasm to vote easily lies with Trump.

Shame that it came down to this, but it is what it is I guess. Americans are never going to accept even mild versions of socialism, even if it's a weak watered down Bernie Sanders style social democracy. The response to Covid-19 with the armed protesters and general upswing of anti-intellectualism actually makes me think Trump's re-election is a certainty unless a substantial amount of Trump voters die during the pandemic.

I don't plan to be in the country hopefully once my state has things relatively under control. I may decide to vote abroad just to give "the left" an easier opponent in Biden, also for science and the environment which would be better under a Biden administration; but, I think America is just overall on a seriously declining curve.

Joe Biden is now the President of the United States. I'm relieved that the Trump era is finally over, and I imagine the allies of the United States are as well.

I very much agree with you, Infiltrator.

My hope is that people on all sides remain peaceful and that there will be a smooth transition.

Wait are all users in this section democrats?
